|
|
A pair of well-formed, lustrous, opaque to translucent, brownish-yellow Diamond cubes with interpenetrant growth. The largest cube measures 9 x 8 x 8 mm. The faces are multicrystalline, giving the appearance of fine pitting. Sometimes referred to as Congo Cubes, these cubes are surprisingly sharp for this locality, and the twinning makes for a striking specimen. Purchased in 1995, this specimen has been tucked away for many years in my collection. Weight 13.6 carats.

| Many lustrous, butterscotch to orange-yellow, blocky crystals of Wulfenite, to 6 mm across, cover a bed of white Calcite crystals on matrix. Most of the Wulfenites show slightly darker cores. This nice specimen from this now closed, classic American locality was collected in March 1991 by Tom and Glenn Hales. |

Looking at the diamond, I would have never guessed that one correctly! That is a very neat oddity...
The wulfenites are also very attractive.

| It is "clay" of some sort. After the photos were taken, I was able to remove some of it with air abrasion.

This is reportedly one of the largest (if not the largest) Morganites found in California. It was found in 2005 by Dana and Ken Gochenour, and bought the same year by Al Ordway. Al kept it in his collection until his death in 2007. I acquired it in 2016.

Several radiating, 3-dimensional sprays of Galena pseudomorphing what was once Stibnite. all perched on lustrous white Baryte crystals. The largest spray is 53 mm across. Formerly in the collection of Richard Jackson, this specimen is pristine.
