Spectacular specimen with an impressive crystal size, I really like that one!

Thank you Tobi, I am particularly happy to get this specimen at the St Marie aux Mines show few years ago and not for a fortune. Have a good day.

This ankerite on quartz was extracted by myself from a geode 70 X 50 X 20 cm located in the famous Engelsbourg mine in the St Marie aux Mines valley, the same mine where some of the most beautiful samples of chalcopyrite were discovered. Now it is totally forbidden to enter this mine due to drastic administrative regulations. This sample was discovered in the 70s. Around 20 pieces of this type have been extracted.

This tetrahedrite from the "les Grandes Haldes" mine in St Marie aux Mines district is typical from this locality. Today it is very difficult to find such a specimen. It has been treated with dilute chlorhydric acid in order to remove the calcite that surrounded the crystal. Without calcite the crystals probably didn't survive in the mine cuttings

Hi Jean,

again I'm stunned by the quality and beauty of your collection! That large piece from India is truly superb, that's the perfect Deccan Trap geode, you won't find a better one!

And the stibnite/barite combination from Wuning is also great. Most of the Chinese stibnites are single crystals or pieces that are just pure stibnite, I think these beautiful combinations with contrasting white barite are much more attractive.

I'm sure everyone here enjoys your treasures, please keep them coming :-)

Best regards & stay healthy
Tobi

Hello Tobi,

Thank you for your post. The Indian piece was bought at the St Marie aux Mines show several years ago just at the end of the mineral show on Sunday evening and for almost nothing. This was a great deal. Probably too heavy to go back with the geode in India.
For the stibnite it is true that the association with baryte is not so common on the market. Here also it was a good purchase at the SMAM show. And the baryte crystals are so nice!

I'm a big fan of Elmwood minerals and I really like your fluorite on barite. Beautiful composition with an impressive main crystal of deep colour - what a stunning specimen!

And congratulations for getting the Indian museum specimen as a bargain :-)

Regards
Tobi

I think I'm not the only one here who loves Elmwood minerals, but thanks for keeping me in mind - wonderful specimen!
