Much of my collection images are focused on my field collecting and much of my field collecting was and is centered in the Northeast, USA. My first collecting epiphany involved the traprock found in Western Massachusetts. I've spent many hours in quiet contemplation looking across the trap exposures and quarries of the great basalt flows of the East Coast. In quiet contemplation because of the scarcity of material to actually collect. The mineralization at the East Mountain Lane location is pretty much centered along a major fault and associated brecciations, that run North-South. Almost no gas pockets, like the ones common in the Southbury, CT basalt, are to be found. With fine collecting opportunities few, I reflect on the other obstacles that present them selves to the field collector of the Holyoke Traps, one of which I present here for your edification. Thank you for your time.

Interesting.
As a long time field collector here in Indiana, years ago I had the local sheriff's office call me and firmly ask me not to further trespass onto a residential construction site. Apparently one of the contractor's employees got my auto license number while I was collecting on the private construction property.
I never went back there. Shame, there were some great Indiana barytes at that location; now just houses! Bob
