I think that has to be the most beautiful specimen yet on this thread. Shame about the hideous brown background to the photo.

My husband and i have just returned from seeing the new mineral gallery at the Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Many of Bill's minerals that were in his former collection are on display, and the nambulite from Tsumeb is still spectacular. Seeing many minerals that George and I had in our personal collection or had collected in the field was like visiting old friends.
The gallery there is very well done, and the minerals are displayed according to the environment they formed in. It's very educational and the covellite from Butte, MT, still has to rank as one of the world's finest examples of that species.

Just to clarify Nambulite is from the Kombat mine, not Tsumeb.

It is amazing to see how many rare species Bill Pinch assembled in his magnificent collection. I must confess, even after 20 years of collecting minerals, that i have never heard of things like betpakdalite, warikahnite, stibioclaudetite, pääkkönenite, brunogeierite, wilhelmkleinite, gerdtremmelite (though the last three sound somewhat German ;-)) and many others of them. Feels like being a newbie in the mineral world ;-)
