Using the ideas from the Christian Rewitzer thread I did some experimentation.
This is my first try and my equipment is way to basic, so don’t expect anything even close to that great artist’s work.
The technique is very interesting and works very well. Still a lot to learn, though.
Regards,
Eduardo.

This silver looks like an acanthite (the black colour and that black octahedron on the main crystal)...are you sure it's silver?

It was sold to me as silver from Andrés del Río, Batopilas, Chihuahua, Méjico.
This is the piece.

Yes Eduardo it is Silver, probably with some epitaxial growing of Acanthite.

Now I see...with the complete piece. Really it's silver, I'm sorry Eduardo.

Hi Eduardo,
Try to illuminate with a softer light (lamp behind a diffusor or screen). That way longitudinal chromatic aberrations (green/violet halos) do not pop out that badly at strong reflections (the real cure would be better optics, of course, but this is not as easy as it sounds at these magnifications). Soft light is often a good choice for metallic, shiny surfaces.
Cheers
Amir

Thanks Amir:
I think I am having problems with the white balance too. At least I got rid of the violet halos. A lot to learn and experiment still.
Regards,
Eduardo
