PostPosted: Jan 21, 2008 15:24    Post subject: Dubious locality for a germanite/renierite specimen

Sometime ago I bought a specimen of massive germanite/renierite coming from the L'Etoile du Congo Mine in former Katanga now Zaire.
However, searching this locality in MINDAT, I realized that these minerals are apparently not found in this mine but they're found in the nearby Kipushi mine. Could anyone in the forum clarify me the exact locality for these germanite/renierite specimens ?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know l'Etoile du Congo Mine, never supplied Germanite, Renierite or other mineral species with rare elements, just primary and also secondary copper species like Cornetite. So, I can't tell you if Kipushi is the origin of your specimen, but I believe that is not from l'Etoile du Congo Mine.
