Dear Leon,

Your collection is quite interesting, so I believe it deserves to be well documented in FMF Gallery -> https://www.topminerals.info/

To do it I added myself the details (name, locality and size) of each specimen in the right place: the box "File Comment" located below the box "Filename" you use to download the images. Then all your specimens will display properly the details in your gallery of "FMF Gallery" -> https://www.topminerals.info/index.php?searchterms=&searchauthor=Leon56&level=search

You don't need to do nothing else to be there we prepared a system that collect the images automatically, but please in your future post remember to fill in the "File Comment" box in the same way as I did with your previous posts. For more infos please use -> https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=1376

Thank you for your participation in FMF

Jordi

Dear Jordi Fabre!

I am delighted that you accepted me so nicely at the forum and as well that you find my collection of minerals interesting. I have to thank you for creating my FMF gallery by which I can display my minerals to others.
In addition to the mineral from Kosovo I have also 3 other atractive samples which I am willing to present if there is interest for it.

Hi Leon56 !

Please, don't skip the field 'Description' associated to each picture and fill the 'File comment' box, as recommended above by Jordi -> https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=17675#17675
In your recent two last posts I had to edit them.

Thanks for your excellent photos.

Heulandite on Calcite

Size: 7 x 5 x 4 cm
Source: Pune District (Poonah District), Maharashtra, India

Note:
It was difficult to take a picture of this mineral, because it is very crystalinic.

Interesting:
This minerall is distinguished by numerous excellent transparent sparkling crystals. Heulandite-Ca, the most common of these, is a hydrous calcium and aluminium silicate.

Malachite with Azurite

Fact: Azurite and Malachite are basic carbonates of copper. The two stones are often found mixed together creating beautiful patterns. They are found wherever there are copper deposits.

Quartz & Star Muscovite

Source: Jenipapo district, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil

Size: 4,5 x 3,5 x 5 cm

In reality it looks nicer, than on the picture.

Curiosity: Very nice exemplare muscovite on quartz. Muscovite is the most common form of mica. Its name is derived from "Muscovy Glass", which describes thick sheets of transparent mica that were once used as a glass substitute in Russia.
Except for large and resistant specimens, Muscovite is very hard to clean because if washed it will absorb water internally and start to break apart. The best way to wash Muscovite and other Micas is with a dry electric toothbrush.

CROCOITE (Lead Chromate)
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MINERAL ON THE PLANET?

Source: Adelaide Mine, Dundas, Tasmania, Australia.
Size: 7 x 4 x 3.5 cm

Crocoite is a rather unusual lead mineral and can be a beautiful and colorful specimen. Is mainly of interest to collectors because of its rarity.

Hi Leon !

For the FMF Minerals Gallery ( https://www.topminerals.info/ ) to work properly, and even in your own interest, it is highly recommended to fill every and each File Comment box with at least the species name and the locality. If you also add the size, still better.

To see your own page at FMF Minerals Gallery just go to https://www.topminerals.info/index.php?searchterms=&searchauthor=Leon56&level=search

Thanks for posting your collection photos here.

I already added the text to your second photo Leon. Thank you everybody to try to do properly! ;-)

BTW, we are working to prepare a new soft which when people will download their images they will be guided to do it properly. Please give us a while to finish it and I assume that when ready, we will not have the same difficulties by forgetfulness that we have currently.

Again, thank you for your images and descriptions.

PostPosted: Jul 09, 2011 01:15    Post subject: Vivianite on sandstone

VIVIANITE ON SANDSTONE

Locality: Tomokoni mine, Machacamarca District (Colavi District), Cornelio Saavedra Province, Potosí Department, Bolivia

Specimen Size: 5.0 x 4.0 x 2.7 cm. (miniature)
Crystal Size: 4.2 cm.

This particular mineral was bought from American dealer who sells mostly minerals from Bolivia. That is where the best specimens come from.

Description:
This is a great gemmy, sharp, lustrous, vibrant green color crystal aesthetically sitting atop sandstone. The display side is very beautiful and the piece is very reasonably priced because there is a contact on the reverse side where it detached from the pocket.

Important:
Iron in vivianite passes more quickly to higher valence state under light. The crystal system is monoclinic. The colour darkens upon exposure to light, due to the oxidation of the iron from +2 to +3.
For this reason crystals need to be kept in dark to prevent colour changing. The best examples should be thus excluded from long exposures in show windows.

Leon:

Congratulations for your nice collection and thank you for posting the photos; among them there are 2 specimens labelled as from "Minas Gerais, Brazil", and I am pretty sure about their precise localities:

- your orange-red scheelite (photo posted on May 6) came from the Morro Velho gold mine, Nova Lima, Minas Gerais

- the apatite on muscovite (photo posted on May 21) is from José Pinto mine, Aldeia district, Conselheiro Pena, Minas Gerais.

Regards

Luiz

Hello Luiz,

Thanks for your opinion. I am glad that you like my collection. I am trying to obtain samples from different cathegories of mineralogy, above all those with some crystallinic structure. One of the cases, I want to collect all minerals from Beryle category.
Your suggested geographic locations for my both minerals have been already saved in my private data base.

Many thanks again and best regards!

Best Regards

Leon
