I recently was sent a link to this photographic effort by someone at the University of Arizona. I am providing a link to the video here in hopes that some FMF readers will find it interesting. I note that Mr. Don misspelled linarite, but apart form that I believe the other mineral names are correct.
"Photo Slideshow: The Magnificent Beauty of Minerals
University of Arizona News | Kenneth Don, an electronic technical services specialists at UA Steward Observatory, takes high-definition images of micromount gems, metals and mineral specimens. Some of them are rare, and all are too small to view clearly with the human eye. A self-taught photographer, Don produces the images for UA scientists and also volunteers for community organizations."

Nice video, John; more such informational materials should be prepared by museums that have talented people like that. They can't help but develop some interest in minerals in a few of the viewers. On a quick run-through, I did notice a couple of other typos. I think the wulfenite/tugite picture should be turgite for the irridescent iron oxide part of it, and there was a vanadinite typo too, but video and discussion were very good. _________________ field collector

I can see that I should have reviewed it more carefully for spelling errors. I confess that I was paying more attention to the images than I was to the captions, sorry not to have been more thorough. _________________ John S. White

I don't know how I passed up this wonderful post. Micros is one my favorite hobbies. Being able to see something that normally you wouldn't see. I have herd the term micromount before but never really knew what it meant. My fascination with the micro world hasn't ventured into the mineral world till just recently. Thanks for sharing this awesome video. _________________ Daniel
