Dears Tracy and Gail,
If finally you visit together the Smithsonian, could you be so nice to write a kind of short article / reportage about it, maybe with some photo, and publish here on the Forum?
It would be lovely to get your "fresh" vision of this venerable institution!

It would be my pleasure Jordi. You already know that I like to write! :-)

If anyone is interested, here is a link to a virtual tour of the Smithsonian galleries. In the upper right corner of the screen is a floor layout, just select it and you can pan through the floor by selecting the arrows. The mineral gallery is on the second floor and can be selected on the first page. The photography is quite spectacular, not quite as good as being there but it gives you an opportunity to get a perspective on the collection.
Enjoy,

Wow! That virtual tour is SO MUCH FUN that I am going to have to make it off-limits until I get my work done. I thought I was just looking for a minute, but half an hour disappeared. _________________ Linda St-Cyr |

Very neat! Yes, almost like being there. It's little being in Google Earth - Street View!
Though I did have a little trouble navigating--kept going around in circles, I kept going back and forth between Silicates and Sufosalts quite a few times, couldn't get out of that area! : ) |

Great fun and a great tool. Let's hope we see more museums do this
