Ciao Antonio,
The Folch's Grossular (Tsavorite) comes from Ampanivana pegmatite on Andrembesoa Commune that is located on Betafo Department -> Betafo-Antsirabé region, Antananarivo Province.
On an old issue (Tucson 2003 - What's New?) of the Mineralogical Record magazine, the Ampanivana pegmatite is mentioned as from Antsirabé, maybe for this reason you have Antsirabé on your records.

About Folch collection I would especially emphasize its contents in classics (very fine classics, indeed!).
It is specially interesting for lovers of Spanish, European and Northamerican minerals (mainly USA and Mexico) as Neptunite, Red Cloud Mine Wulfenite, minerals of Mapimí, etc., but very good species all over the world are waiting for you. Take just some notes! (I simply write about pieces I remember just now) Phosgenite from Monteponi, Some superb Azurite, Cerussite and Dioptase especimens, Apatite from Panasqueira, some superb Brazilian pieces, Knappenwand Epidotes... (etc is not enough). |

I just moved this topic to the "Collection Photos" area.
When we have the possibility we will publish more photos of specimens from this fantastic collection.

Don't worry Xavier, I remember your wish to visit the collection and I already have your email address. The fact is that after my last message about a visit to the collection:
https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=1474#1474 nothing happened yet.
If finally a foreigner group is organized to visit the collection, I will let you know in order to join the group.

The actual situation is the same as it was: https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=1474#1474
I had a talk with Les and Gail in Tucson and both said that they would love to visit the collection as well as Barcelona city. Of course is not easy to manage a trip like this with a group, so we should let Les to work on it. I assume that if he arrive to manage the trip, he will announce here and then Xavier, Peter and James could join the group.
Also, as before the end of this year an article with photos about the Folch collection will be published in the Rock & Minerals magazine, then probably still more people could be interested to visit the collection... _________________ Audaces fortuna iuvat |

Though the entire Folch collection is absolutely outstanding, this red fluorite from Switzerland is a class of its own: A nearly 20 cm matrix specimen of perfect red fluorite octahedrons from the Alps - this is one of the most aesthetic, most precious and most thrilling mineral specimens i've ever seen. |

Jordi,
I just finished reading the article on Sr. Folch's collection. Well done. And Joan's photos are superb. Thanks for the link.

Jordi
It is great to see it published and I cannot wait to get my copy on paper. It is good to see the photos along with the text that I had all that fun with!

Hello Tobias, after reading your glowing report on the Swiss fluorite I had to sort through and see it for myself. Yep, it is GOOD! Thank you for drawing my attention to it. Today. I'm feeling earthy so I will regard the Michigan copper, the one on the right ! _________________ JimB |

Following the topic, I strongly recomend everybody to adquire the paper copy of the Rock & Minerals magazine ( https://www.rocksandminerals.org ) as it is much, much nicer than the version on line!... |
