Hi Michael,
Does your glass get scratched by some specimens and do you change the glass often or somehow remove the scratches?
I have been a fan of your work for years,.
Regards,
Don

Hello Don,
Thank you. Absolutely, the glass gets scratched no matter how careful the specimens are placed on it. That said, I have been using the same piece of glass for several years. Any scratches are pretty minor and are easily removed during the editing process.
Best,
Michael

Do you think toughened glass might help?

James,
I don't think so. The piece of glass I used before the current one was part of a tempered glass shelf and after several years of use it had quite a few scratches. Although tempered (toughened) glass is 5x stronger than regular glass, it seems like it is not immune to scratching.

I have always been pleased with your mineral photographs, and at time very envious. :)

Thank you, Silvia. Actually, I was thinking the same thing about your photos. Your use of photo stacking software produces a really sharp photo overall. I have toyed with the idea of using photo stacking, but in the limited reading I have done it seems a bit complicated and time consuming.

Lovely Stibnite specimen. We have many minerals from some of the Romanian Mines (Turt, Boldut, Herja) and we just love Romanian Stibnites. Again - nice specimen.
