Time for a few minerals from Italy today. I have an amusing story about the following picture. Several years ago, on a trip to Italy, we visited Lake Como. We stayed in Baveno at a nice hotel right on the lake, and when we arrived in our room Laura opened the drapes expecting to have a nice view of the lake. She was disappointed because our room faced the other direction. I was ecstatic because we had a beautiful view of the quarry where the specimen pictured was found. We still laugh about this.

Beautiful specimens, Michael!
I love the fluorites from France and from Elmwood Mine :)

P.S. What's the size of the gypsum from France (0507 Gypsum.jpg)?

Mike,
Like Tobi, I have a weakness for fluorite specimens. I particularly enjoy the three French fluorites, especially the Le Burc Mine (2081 Fluorite.jpg) fluorite.
I also have enjoyed the Elmwood Mine specimens (2165 Calcite.jpg, 1671 Fluorite.jpg) that both you and Don Lum on his thread have posted. It is one of my favorite localities.
Although this was many pages ago, I also enjoyed the aesthetics of the Carrolite specimen (1135 Carrollite (3).jpg, pg. 20) and the “Bahama Pod” Calcite from the Denton Mine (1373 Calcite.jpg, pg. 2)
I am assuming that the pink fluorite from Argentiere Massif, Chamonix (1129 Fluorite.jpg, pg. 3) is the same specimen as (1129 Fluorite.jpg, pg. 24). The chlorite, I think adds more character to it. Very cool…

Hi Jamison,
Thanks for your nice comments. It's hard not to have a weakness (or as Tobi describes it, an addiction) for fluorite. I love MVT localities, and Elmwood is also one of my favorite locales ever since I acquired my first specimen from there over 40 years ago.
And yes, the images of the pink fluorite from Chamonix are of the same specimen, the last one being a shot of the entire piece. Lastly, why don't you consider starting your own collection thread. We'd enjoy seeing some of your collection.
Michael
