Michael,
Your aragonite pearls should be on the cover of " Rolling Stones !!!"
Sorry for the bad pun, I couldn't help myself.
Don

I must confess i'm not a fan of that strange bird's nest looking minerals - but the silver specimens are really fine! I hope you have some more German minerals to show, Michael?!
And Don: Not bad :-) :-) :-)

Thank you all. I got a good chuckle out of your "Rolling Stone" reference Don, very clever. Tobi - I'm afraid that's the extent of our minerals from Germany. As I indicated in an earlier post, I shall have to focus more on your country in the future.

Michael,
Germany is only one out of 50 or so countries with a large amount of fine collectible minerals. But only few of us collectors have space and money for collecting every nice mineral from all that countries, so no wonder that you don't have a "complete" collection of German specimens. I have the same problems with U.S. minerals: I really like them and there are many that i'd like to have - but there are only 14 of them in my showcase at the moment while some of the finest (e.g. Sweet Home Mine rhodo, Pikes Peak amazonite, Californian tourmaline) are missing. I even miss some of the best German classics (e.g. Neudorf galena) - eventhough i focus on minerals from my home country! So don't worry - you're not the only one ;-)
Cheers!
Tobi

Before moving on to a new country, I would like to show a few new pieces that we picked up in Tucson. We were able to find 6 specimens to add to our China collection and here are three.
Description: |
Calcite Yangshan Co., Qingyuan Pref., Guangdong Prov., China 5.7 x 9.8 x 14.9 cm Poker chip calcites with opaque white layers that sandwich clear central zones. The edges and back sides of the crystals are coated with tiny clear fluorite crystals. |

Wulfenite Jianshan Mine, Kuruktag Mts., Xinjiang AR, China 2.7 x 3.0 x 3.8 cm Delicate tabular wulfenite crystals with a second generation of small crystals covering the back sides and some edges. These appear to have been etched out of calcite as there are remnants of white calcite left between some of the crystals. |

Thanks Don, these chalcocites almost look artificial, but they are really that colorful.
Today I'd like to show a few minerals from the Trepca Complex in Kosovo. These are all older specimens in the collection and date to the late 60s and early 70s. In future posts I'll show some pieces that are the result of more recent mining.

Hm..., seems, that such rhombohedrons are needed a closer research for exact ID. Dolomite or Calcite, that's the question.
