Just curious if these crystals are real, because I've seen them in many crystal shops in rod, tubular, and tumbled shapes.
Do you think they're real?

Hi Bruce!
I think you are wrong with rhodochrosite. The specimen you showed is a so-called "water-melon" variety of elbaite, i.e. a tourmaline. I am quite doubtless about the green crystals: they are tourmaline, according to what I could see.

Probably Rhodo, but test the hardness.

I don't think so: Water-melon tourmalines are tourmaline crystals that consist of blue/green and reddish parts. This specimen here shows some pink crystalline material inside a grey rock matrix. This is typical for several rhodochrosites, e.g. from China. The whole structure looks indeed like rhodochrosite, but finding out the locality will be impossible ...

I agree, the hardness could prove it, also if a small parcel of it dissolves (very, very slowly, it could take days...) in Hydrochloric diluted 10% in water...
