Yes! We are going off to Tucson and we are excited! So, just getting you all prepared for a fun show report this year, albeit a wee bit shorter than usual. I discovered that I had a lump in my breast and it is cancer, so have a double mastectomy on Jan.14th. I will need a couple of weeks to recover, at least, then I am off to Tucson and am guest speaking at the Pueblo Inn on the 11th. We are entering some minerals in a competition, for fun, and will be co hosting with Jordi on the Thursday night of the main show again.
I will have my trusty D90 Nikon. If I see you, expect that I will life my camera, take a photo, then give you a hug!
So, just getting this thread ready to go.
I want to dedicate this year's show report to Chris Wright, who recently passed away. I loved that man, and miss him greatly. So, here's to you Chris! Cheers all, Gail

Dear Gail,

Gwen and I are very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. You look optimistic in your picture and with your positive attitude we know that you will do well. We hope Jim is doing well also.

Warmest wishes,

"wee bit, carry on, cheers," I think your British heritage is showing through a "wee bit, Gail"

Good luck on your upcoming surgery and best wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Don

Hi Gail,
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, if it is any consolation, my wife went through the same procedure many years ago and we just recently celebrated her 10th anniversary cancer free.

Wishing you all the best,
Joseph

My best wishes to you and to Jim. I know your indomitable spirit will prevail.

I cannot think of a better person to dedicate your report to than Chris. I had the pleasure of knowing him for forty years and some of my most favorite pieces were obtained from him.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Steve

My sympathies dear lady, but I know first hand how strong you are and I fully expect to see you bopping around Tucson with your camera with your enthusiasm undiminished. My daughter just had the same surgery yesterday.

Oh no worries everyone, I haven't time for this, so will do my best to recover nicely, charge the battery on my camera, load a 32 GB card and start shooting! I am pretty positive that I will be okay, that I will beat this and will still collect lots of minerals with my wonderful Jim.
Thanks everyone, you are wonderful.
See some of you soon, and if not….let the fun begin on here!

Sorry to hear the negative news, Gail; best wishes for a speedy recovery without complications! Pay attention to body signs in recovery, just like you would on a long bike ride!

Hi Gail,

Take care of you first before doing the report. I wish you a good show & I'm sure you'll beat this nasty thing the way you climbed l'Alpes d'Huez on Tandem.

Chris

Hi Gail!
I'm so sorry of listening to those bloody news about you. But... never get down! In 2005 my mother got the same bloody diagnosis as yourself. She was operated and took some 10 days in hospital and a relatively short (of course difficult and heavy for her) period of radiotherapy. Now she is very well and healthy and 73 years old, living with my sister and my nephews, still driving her car, still moving and travelling for holidays etc. In a word: she got living her life again as well as before her illness. I always support you, then you have one more friend here in Italy! Of course I always wait for your amusing report and pictures from Tucson!
Greetings, hugs and all my best wishes by Riccardo.
