PostPosted: Jan 16, 2014 06:57    Post subject: A mineralogical trip through Germany / Bayern - Bavaria

Germany’s largest Land (the size of Ireland). Located in the south, Bavaria is known for its spectacular landscapes at the foot of the Alps. Its most important mining areas are located in the east of the Land, where mountain ranges like the Bavarian Forest or the Fichtelgebirge and the giant fluorspar district of Woelsendorf with its famous honey-coloured fluorite have been the source for a lot of minerals over centuries.
