Pyrite, calcite, tetrahedrite, sphalerite
Lustrous cube-octahedron {100} {111} combination of pyrite crystals with numerous milky white translucent scalenohedrons of calcite, accompanied with minor sphalerite and a couple of small tetrahedrite tetrahedrons, all over the main crystal, on a matrix of pyrite. Complete all around, a 360° specimen that is displayable from all sides. Overall size: 81 mm x 75 mm x 71 mm. Main pyrite crystal: 41mm wide. Major calcite crystal: 22mm long. Weight: 566 g.
Huanzala Mine, Huallanca District, Dos de Mayo Province, Huánuco Department, Peru.
Note that Huanzala mine is probably the most prolific deposit of pyrite ever. Collection specimens have been produced there by the millions, but unfortunately most of them with visible damage.
