James, interesting choice, I actually only think of fluorite and Baryte when it comes to Berbes.
Les, a great specimen, beautiful shape, good contrast, and garnet as matrix also isn't bad ;-) And as usual a top photo by master Scovil!
Bob, the photo is quite small, but the specimen looks fine, is the colour natural? If so, that crystal group is world-class, reminds of alpine finds!

The quartz from there is great. | I think there are many localities in the world where quartz occurs in "great" form while most collectors only have it in mind as an accessory mineral, e.g. Panasqueira/Portugal, Kara-Oba/Kazakhstan or many mines in Erzgebirge/Saxony/Germany ...

Additional information:
I changed the name of the topic from "Favourite Quartz localities" to "Favourite Quartzes". So everyone can feel free not only to discuss his/her favourite localities but also which varieties, colours and forms of that mineral group he/she likes the most, e.g. elongated or thick crystals, transparent or not, on matrix or single crystals, double-terminated or not, with or without phantoms or inclusions etc. ...

Tobi
Sorry about the size of the photo but that is the best one I have without setting up and reshooting the picture. Yes that is the natural color. That area was more know for the very dark blue clear Aqua's that Geary mined in the early 1980's. I got it straight from him shortly after it was mined. I have one other smoky that color with two topaz crystals attached to it. That area near Centerville produced some very interest minerals over the short period it was mined. Thank you for your comments

Quartz crystals from many locations can be covered by any of a number of aesthetically pleasing other minerals. Here is an Indiana quartz geode with hematite on the quartz crystal surfaces. Self collected in Monroe County about 2006.
For completeness, this example was also added to the Indiana pages of the mineralogical trip thru the states of the USA.

Rarely Indiana quartz might be found as well formed doubly terminated crystals. The largest found are about 1 cm. This example is unusual as several adjacent crystals are side by side.
Mineral: | quartz |
Locality: | Monroe County, Indiana, USA | |

Dimensions: | the largest doubly terminated crystal is 1 cm |
