PostPosted: Jan 20, 2017 10:27    Post subject: Copper specimen from Zambia?

I visited someone I know, where he was staying with a friend in my old hometown. The latter, Mr. MP Stander, showed me a copper specimen, mounted on wood, that he acquired years ago. He gave me permission to show this specimen; perhaps one of our experts will be able to tell us more about its origins.
The specimen has obviously been over coated to stop oxidation.

It does not appear to be naturally formed copper. It looks like molten copper was poured into water, or possibly oil, where it cooled into flow patterns.

Or the growth in an electrolysis tank - we used to grow similar things where I worked many years ago (although they were smaller)

My first impression was a created artifact as well. Way too sculptural and no evidence of crystallization.

Hi John. I was wondering about that. The 2 small copper? emblems on the wood could be an indication that the mounted 'copper piece' was a gift from the mine.
