Hello, I just began learning German and wanted to subscribe to a German magazine. It’s my understanding that “Lapis” and “Mineralien-Welt” are the two major publications in that language. Could anybody give me some clues as to what the focus in each magazine is? What is the quality of the articles and of the print itself? I am a “Mineralogical Record” subscriber. What are similarities and differences between the three publications? Any information would be greatly appreciated! |

To simplify: Mineralien Welt looks externally more like the Mineralogical Record and Lapis more like Rocks&Minerals. Lapis appear every month and Mineralien Welt every two months. The contents of Lapis could be considered more "scientific" (althoug it has articles that are very "showy") and the Mineralien Welt contents could be considered more "showy" (although it has columns that are very "scientific")
What's best?: subscribe to both! 😄 |

Hi CodyDel!
May I suggest another one?
I think the magazine of the German Gemological Association should be interesting to you! You can take information about at the site of the German Gemological Association in Idar-Oberstein.
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo. _________________ Hi! I'm a collector of minerals since 1973 and a gemmologist. On Summer I always visit mines and quarries all over Europe looking for minerals! Ok, there is time to tell you much much more! Greetings from Italy by Riccardo. |

There are already 53 of them (and 19 others in English language), here you have an overview: https://www.lapis.de/mineralien_buch/index.php?page=categorie&cat=47
I can highly recommend these issues, and you don't need to be a Lapis subscriber to purchase them, they're available for everyone.
I hope you'll find a lot of good stuff to read ... und viel Spaß und Erfolg beim Deutsch lernen ;-)
