Thank you, Carles. I like that specimen a lot, its visual makes it a perfect center piece. Not all crystals on the edges of the specimen are complete, this is common in this locality, but all those parts are recrystallized so there is no visual damage. Some of the crystals even have phantoms inside - I really like that new Madagascar locality :-)
Regards
Tobi

New specimen - muscovite/aquamarine combination from Pakistan:
Mineral: | Muscovite, Aquamarine |
Locality: | Chumar Bakhoor, Hunza Valley, Nagar District, Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas), Pakistan
|
Dimensions: | Specimen size 13 cm, beryl crystal 2,5 x 3 cm, largest muscovite 2,5 cm |
Description: |
The upper part of the aquamarine is water-clear, you can see through the crystal how the muscovites are grown on it (I still fail to capture this on a good photo ...) |

A very aesthetic specimen thanks to the additional faces in the upper part of the beryl and the surrounding mica crystals.

I agree that it looks as Cavnic but however it could also be from Herja (the "campanoid" form of the Quartz is indicative that it also could be Herja) so I changed the locality to "Maramures, Romania" just to be sure... 😏

The aqua crystal is neither large nor of intense colour, but it has this additional faces and the upper part is completely transparent, you can look through 2,5 cm of water-clear beryl and see the bottom of the muscovite crystals ...
Those of you who own world-class aqua specimens from Pakistan with free-standing 10 cm crystals of sky-blue colour may laugh at me that I mention this little and unspectacular detail, but I just love the clarity of the crystal ;-) Here are some closer photos of the part where you can see through the crystal:

I think the photo above was ok but I tried a dark background, maybe better for this specimen:

Actually I don't collect azurite or malachite or copper minerals at all ... but I could not resist the stunning colours on this classic specimen from Arizona:
Mineral: | Azurite, Malachite, Chrysocolla |
Locality: | Morenci Mine, Morenci, Copper Mountain District, Shannon Mountains, Greenlee County, Arizona, USA

Dimensions: | Specimen size 19 cm |
Description: |

Azurite, Malachite, Chrysocolla, (Tenorite?) Can anyone confirm that the dark grey spherules are tenorite? And has anyone an idea about the pale material? |

Hi Tobi,
A nice classic from Morenci - and large too! I am certainly not an expert on Morenci, but I think the most likely candidate for the dark botryoidal material is tenorite. The pale material is more puzzling, especially the way some of it is associated with the azurite. Could be very pale chrysocolla I suppose. Another possibility would be gibbsite.

Thank you, Michael, both for your appreciation of the specimen and your hints concerning the analysis of the dark and the pale material!
