José Ramón García one of the greatest connoisseurs of the Fluorites of Asturias, Spain (see JRG Collection ) and coauthor of the Bible of the Asturian Fluorite La Fluorita: Un Siglo de Minería en Asturias passed away past 30th December.

He leaves a hole that is impossible to fill in concerning the knowledge of the Fluorite of Northern Spain as well as worlwide.

This is so sad to hear! I have known Jose for many years. He first approached me almost 20 years ago, asking if I was interested in trading Rogerley fluorites for Spanish ones. He was unusually generous in his trades, and over the years I have acquired a number of very nice specimens from him. I know he was fighting cancer the past few years, but I saw him at the recent Munich show, and he seemed healthy and in good spirits. I will miss him!
