PostPosted: May 01, 2020 06:32    Post subject: National Library of Spain - Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE)

As you will all know, given the need for us to be confined because of the Covid-19, back in mid-march a topic was created that allowed all the mineralnauts to express their opinions on what is going on, based on scientifically robust information, and it became a meeting place for everyone. This topic is well structured and has good references, not just scientific but also sociological.

In Spain, there have been many requests by historians and archivists for information related to the lockdown and the coronavirus to be kept so that in the future people will know what happened. It is obvious that such threads will be a great source of information for future social and data studies, etc.

A few days ago the Spanish FMF got in touch with the Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE) to find out more about this subject and to offer the two topics that were being created on the Spanish side as well as the one on Stay at home - Coronavirus / Covid-19 to see if they had already seen them or were thinking of doing something with similar information. We thought that if the BNE were collecting all the information on the coronavirus, then our threads could form part of their archives and be of use to future investigators who wanted more detail on the whole event.

A few days later the management team of the archives for on-line publications replied. This is the team that is responsible for gathering information from all sorts of web sites so as to create an Archive of the Spanish Web. They said that they were already working on selecting web sites for different collections, one of which was a collection on the ‘coronavirus’ and that in their words “… the sections of the forum you have sent us fit perfectly, so we will go about collecting and preserving them so that they can be used as a source of information in the future”. So we now know that the two Spanish FMF topics Covid-19 / Coronavirus - Nuestra visión / Esto va a ser largo - A ver si lo podemos hacer más entretenido and Stay at home - Coronavirus / Covid-19 will now be held in the Spanish web archives of the BNE.

Given that, we thought that the thread Stay at home - Coronavirus / Covid-19 should be part of a new section of the forum that we have called National Library of Spain / Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE) and FMF. In this area, we have moved the topic of Stay at home - Coronavirus / Covid-19 as that will now be held in the web archives of the Biblioteca Nacional de España.

We all still have days of confinement to go, so we would like to encourage everyone to keep adding what they are living through and how they are managing. So that no one feels left out or unwilling to participate, in an informal manner we are creating a thread that will be used as a reference in the future.
