Has anyone an idea, from where this fluorite could be? It was wrongly labelled. The label said "Altenmittlau, Germany, but according to Tobi's information, this is impossible. The label must have been confused, before I got the piece.
There is no matrix on this specimen, the fluorite cubes are only accompanied by scarce tiny pyrites.
I know, it is nearly impossible to get a location without typical attributes, but, maybe, someone has an idea at least about the region.
Thanks, Volkmar

Could you include a photograph of the bottom...sometimes even a bit of matrix helps identify or eliminate possibilities

Could be from many localities. Can you constrain the locality? Is it likely from Europe, or could it be from anywhere in the world?

Might also help if you gave it a bath!

And with a certainty of 100% this is not from Altenmittlau.

I think we won't solve this riddle, we can only make guesses. And my guess is that this one is maybe from Illinois.

That was my initial thought as well. Things I always want to know. Was this an old collection? Rules out most Chinese and Russian locals. Was the collection European? Was the collection primarily USA and if so what part of the country?
Without a matrix it will be hard to be sure.
Does it UV? Illinois often has UV reaction from hydrocarbon/petroleum inclusions.

Thanks to all for your first ideas! I made some additional photos (after cleaning it a bit more), from the bottom side, too.
I have seen, that not only tiny pyrites are included or grown on fluorite, but also some really small crystals, that look like chalcopyrite. The back side shows an irregular pattern of fluorite, it looks like some calcite has been dissolved. With a 30x loupe I cannot see any carbonate now,
The collection was bought from a German internet dealer, obviously without great knowledge about minerals. The original owner was passed away, was the information I got. The collection had obviously no special focus. So, this cannot help in any way.
Maybe these additional infos may help to narrow down at least the region a little bit. Otherwise, I will leave it without location, simply as a nice fluorite specimen.

Like Tobi, and after the etched Fluorite image, I would say Illinois, maybe Annabel Lee Mine.

Thanks to all for their input. I will assign it to the Kentucky-Illinois Fluorspar District, with a large questionmark! After comparing with the pictures on mindat, your guess seems the most plausible also to me.
Best wishes, stay healthy,
Volkmar
