PostPosted: Aug 10, 2022 07:56    Post subject: Tama's Mineral Paintings

I was encouraged to share some paintings of minerals that I have done in the past (and present!) My primary medium of choice is watercolor, specifically using dry brush techniques, but I will occasionally experiment with oil paints, and other mediums. Some of these paintings are of specimens in my own collection; others are commission works for clients. Enjoy!

This was a relatively recent painting from this year of a specimen which I believe is/was in Martin Gruell's collection. Painting is now in a private collection.

This painting was commissioned by Gail Spann as a gift for Jim in late 2020. One of the the most difficult paintings I've done!

Yes, Tama, I would like to see more of your art. Gail and Jim selected a nice specimen and location for you to paint, which is near to my heart--the San Francisco Mine. I spent a lot of time there and it will remain my favorite locality. Your eye captured the essence of the signature minerals from there--wulfenite and mimetite. Well done, and thank you.

Thanks all for the kind remarks! Sharing a few more for the weekend. I haven't done much painting lately since I have been focusing on portraiture practice, but I'd like to go back to these soon.

These three were all done for the Wilensky Gallery in 2020. Intense work!

Those are all knock-out water colors! Your eye really captures the correct colors of the minerals as well as the perspective without what I would call distortion. Thank you for sharing these.

Your paintings are truly lovely. Your parents must be so proud.

I hope the contacts you make on FMF will help your business grow – I suspect you already have many orders. It is so difficult these days for young graduates. We know of fine young engineering graduates who are working in department stores because professional work is so difficult to come by.
