PostPosted: Apr 11, 2023 05:37    Post subject: The first 100 IUGS geological heritage sites

I spent some time over the weekend reading some of this new book. It gives information about 100 sites that are geologically important, among them three mineral localities (Tsumeb, Almadén and Los Catalanes) and lots of other locations that are important in the history or study of geology.

Over the years I think I have seen about 15 of them, but sometimes without knowing their role in geology.

I thought that I had seen this before. You posted about this book on Nov 1, 2022 and gave a link to the electronic version of the book:
https://iugs-geoheritage.org/videos-pdfs/iugs_first_100_book_v2.pdf

I thought I'd add the electronic version here again just so people know about it.

Thank Matt, I did post that and also decided to get a paper copy for reference - it took a long time to arrive and I think was over-subscribed.

I am looking forward to the Geo-Collections results. I know I have my favourite collections, and ones I am yet to visit
