Hello,
I acquired an old collection which includes a rhodochrosite specimen with a label identifying the locality as Flagstone, CO. I am having trouble finding any reference and would appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

I can find no evidence for the existence of Flagstone as a place name of any kind anywhere in Colorado. Mindat lists two mines/claims with Flagstone in the name, but has no mineral list for either. Nor does rhodochrosite seem to be reported in specimen quality from either of the counties involved. A search of a Colorado Place Names compendium by the Denver Public Museum, 691 pages long, contains no mention of Flagstone as a place name. The name must be wrong.

Hopefully someone will recognize the material and be able to give you a better alternative for the locality name.

This looks like a piece from the Sunnyside mine group, Gladstone (not Flagstone), San Juan Co., CO

Bob is correct. Gladstone, not Flagstone.
