Could this be a diamond kimberlite? I see that down in the rock there seems to be quartz, there is no quartz in the kimberlite right? I am asking for your help? I have not seen real kimberlite. Is it a good sample?

An easy first test: see if the white fluoresces yellow.

Should the diamond glow yellow or the micro crystals at the base? What is this an indicator of? Thanks?

Hello,
Munich is a magical city in many ways.
I have visited it around forty times since 1977 to admire the Mineralientage Muenchen exhibition by Johannes Keilmann.
The exhibition alone was worth the trip (700 km). Besides, the show taught me what university didn't give me.
This is an exceptionally rare kimberlite specimen. Have you often seen such kimberlite? We don't know how to count diamonds. Some have a perfect idiomorphic morphology.
You also see the texture of this igneous rock. This is a rare variety of peridotite which dominates in the upper part of the Earth's mantle.

Roger, That looks too good to be natural. Am I wrong? It would be interesting to know many carats per ton?

I recall seeing a dealer at the Munich show around that time who was selling diamond in kimberlite matrix specimen that had been assembled, though without the statuary. They were, however, labeled "montage."

As Jesse, I have always read that diamonds in kimberlite matrix are just assembled...
When I think in Chinese cinnabar mounted in matrix, well, nothing surprise me..
And besides, diamonds are very loosely attached to kimberlite (as Navajun pirites...).
So reglued....
With best wishes
