Chris ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=691 ) I am wondering if you might be willing to share with FMF visitors a little of your personal information; such as what is your full name, what is your collection like, how long have you been collecting, etc.

Hi John,

Here are some answers. My name is Christophe Rigaud and I'm French. I live in the south outskirts of Grenoble on the way to a mineralogical paradise : l'Oisans.

I have a biotechnology background and worked several years for a biotechnology company doing drug research before moving to the paper industry. I've been looking for minerals in the surrounding mountains when I was a kid before stopping for about a couple of decades (I prefer doing hiking & climbing than mine digging because hiking's scenery is much better).

I went back to mineral collecting first occasionally then regularly about 5 years ago. Having a chemistry background too, I focused and still focus my thematic around chemistry. I'm a S something fan, so everything with both sulfides and/or sulfosalts are interesting for me. Moreover as I don't want to have hundreds of them at home, I've increased the difficulty by deciding to only collect specimens having sulfide/sulfosalt + another element (carbonate, silicate, ...).

Even if I'm not a geologist I try to find time to study the geology of the areas from which I have minerals. To complete this I'm quite proficient with computers and web programming languages.

I'll try to publish some pictures of my specimens, but I'm definitely not good at taking pictures of minerals, so don't expect great shots.

Christophe

Thanks John, good idea to request to some FMF members their biographies...

Thanks Christophe for your answer.

I moved both messages to the section "Off-Topic and Introductions". More coherent, I believe.

Thank you Chris, it helps to be able to fill in some details to go with a name.

John
