Thanks for the link Jordi. There seems to be quite a lot of variation in the color and texture of the coatings, so I wonder if any of the other specimens have been analyzed. According to Mindat, all four minerals apparently occur as coatings on stibnite from this locality. I now suspect that each specimen must be analyzed to know for sure what the coating is.

We analyzed some specimens from this mine and in any of them the yellowish and the brownish coat was Stibiconite. The late Joan Viñals at this time said to me that is more common than we suppose that the brown stuff coating Stibnites is not Stibiconite but Sulfur. With different colors, but Sulfur.
About Mindat, the photos downloaded there are "photos downloaded" by the users, it don't means that Mindat guarantees the Stibiconite in this mine is just that the Mindat's users believe this, and it is true that is a common error to believe that the brown material from this mine is Stibiconite. You will find also some other images in Mindat from the same mine but labeled as "Sulfur"...
Mindat is permanently correcting this kind of errors but is more easy to correct something clearly wrong than something doubtful like this. As you said it is a possibility that the Stibiconite be present in the Stibnites from this mine, but as far as I know and by our analysis, we don't found Stibiconite there (BTW, Roméite Group currently... ;-)

Don,
What a cool picture of that almandine backlit (IMG_3814.JPG, page 29). I have also enjoyed the various specimens from Cave-in-Rock IL-KY Fluorspar District. I especially enjoyed the etched fluorite (IMG_3702.JPG, page 28) and the fluorite, calcite, sphalerite specimen (IMG_3695.JPG, page 28).
I also agree with Pierre about the beauty of the crocoite (IMG_3664.JPG, page 28) specimen and the combination fluorite and rhodochrosite (IMG_3536.JPG, page 28) specimen from China. Those are really nice examples of both specimens from those localities.
I am not sure that IMG_3650 (The Fluorite, calcite, chalcopyrite specimen, page 28) may be from the Hill-Ledford Mine. The fluorite specimens that I have typically seen from H-L are purple to very dark purple in color. I don’t think I have seen any specimens that are color zoned and/or are associated with chalcopyrite.
I have also seen Hill-Ledford fluorite specimens with what I call “domed sections”, that is fluorite crystallizing over earlier baryte (AM has an example of this kind of fluorite on his Mindat page). I am not sure what mine it could have originated from, but probably either Minerva #1 or the Annabel Lee Mine.

Hello Jamison,
Thank you for your kind comments on the specimens that I have posted.
I think that you are correct about the Fluorite IMG_3650. I agree with you that it looks like MInerva #1 or Annabel Lee. I have even posted fluorite specimens on FMF from Hill-Ledford that are purple. I will change my label. I have several specimens from older collections that are either not labelled at all or incorrectly labelled. I am making an attempt to correctly label these.
Don

Don,
I echo Jamison's comment about the Red Embers Mine almandine specimen. Very neat piece. I'm not familiar with the locality - is it a relatively new piece?
