Description: |
Classic hollow casts of quartz that has replaced scalenohedral calcite crystals. The surface of the quartz has a sugary texture and there are small pyrite and bournonite crystals scattered about. |

According to the Mineralogical Record article on this locality Vol. 35(5), these fan-shaped epidote aggregates were a unique find collected from the lower workings in summer 2003.

Thank you for those very kind words Tobi. You would laugh if I told you how many pictures I took of that specimen before I finally captured one that I was happy with. All I can say is, it is a good thing that I wasn't shooting on film.
