I love the gold nugget!
Thank you for your opinion, but I would much prefer to own yours.
Thanks for the compliment, Carles. But please consider that my nugget may be a bit larger but consists mostly of quartz while yours is pure gold! I think we can both be happy with our goldies :-)
Description: Complete single scalenohedral, mostly transparent crystal of calcite aesthetically attached to a matrix made up of sphalerite crystals covered by many small white rhombohedral crystals of dolomite.
Dimensions: 80 mm x 64 mm x 54 mm.
Largest crystal size: 60 mm x 36 mm.
Mass: 229 g.

Old specimen, new photos
Pyrite Fe2S
Description: A floater specimen of typical dodecahedral pyrite crystals with well-defined faces and edges and excellent luster. No visible damage. The time passed since it was mined in 1994, and being today still unaltered, confirms that the piece is very stable. Ex Josep Amigó collection. Fabre Minerals specimen (2008).
Dimensions: 64 mm x 40 mm x 35 mm
Largest crystal size: 34 mm
Mass: 194 g
Locality: Ambas Aguas (Ambasaguas), Muro de Aguas, Comarca Arnedo, La Rioja, Spain

Carles, it is my understanding that the Ambas Aguas locality produces a greater variety of crystal forms than that of Navajun, where there seems to be a preponderance of simple cubes. I really like the dodecahedrons on your specimen. It's a wonderful piece.

Hi Michael
Pyrites from Navajún are usually cubic with flat and very bright faces. It is extremely rare to find another habit.
Ambasaguas, which is only about 18 km away from Navajún (in a straight line), produces many pyritohedral crystals, and cubic ones can be easily found there too, although they are typically striated and smaller.
