Not England. S. Illinois is most likely, I think.

Another German fluorite. The first one I ever acquired around 20 years ago. At the time it was labeled "Weardale", maybe because of the Weardale-like twins, but I knew it was not. Barite and ...

I recall seeing a dealer at the Munich show around that time who was selling diamond in kimberlite matrix specimen that had been assembled, though without the statuary. They were, however, labeled &qu ...

Another Naica fluorite, which according to Pete's analysis would be cube-dodechahedral habit. From the find circa 2005.

PostForum: Minerals and Mineralogy   Posted: Sep 26, 2023 10:44   Subject: Re: Pele's Hair and Tears
Pele's hair is a common byproduct of active lava fountaining during an eruption of basaltic lava at a volcano such as Hawaii's Kilauea. It is produced during fountaining when escaping volatile gases ( ...

The ever-increasing prices ask for decent specimens is certainly making it difficult to pursue building a serious collection any more. The shift in the overall hobby toward aesthetics over scientific ...

Fossil assemblages associated with fluorite mineralization were not uncommon at the Rogerley Mine. Most common were carboniferous-era colony corals, which were often present in the host limestone. Min ...
