I'm wondering just how to use Hydrochloric acid, at what strength to figure out my stones names. Anyone out there use this method? I sure could use some advice.
Thanks, Darlene

Usually it is used at about 10%. One part of acid solution is added to three parts of water (for the commercially available 35% concentration). When doing this, be sure to wear eye protection (and gloves). Do in a well ventilated area and DON'T inhale fumes - they are real nasty. You also want to be careful about storage, a capped bottle of acid that has been opened still can give off vapors that will corrode any nearby metals.

You might want to use citric acid rather than hydrochloric acid. Citric is safer, less problematic to dilute, and doesn't give off fumes that corrode your nearby metal implements and cabinet handles.

Thank you Alfredo !
I was just watching u tube to see if I could find more info on Hydrochloric acid. Didn't see any to mention, but what you said makes sense.

And Thank you David, I also appreciate what you had to say.

I think I will go with citric acid, it sounds so much more like me : )

Thanks again : )
Darlene
