Welcome to FMF Asnia.
Russia is one of the more promising countries for the hobby, I believe that russian people have the culture, carachter and conditions to enjoy a lot the mineralogy in a close future.

Hi to Asnia,
I had the pleasure of visiting Russia once, a trip to the Kola Peninsula (and St. Petersburg) back in the early 1990s; it was great (we were hosted by Dr. Nataly Krasnova of St. Petersburg University). There are fascinating variety of minerals from that huge country, and the people are wonderful to visit.
I'll put in an advance plug here, the theme of next year's (Sep. 16-18 2011) Denver Gem and Mineral Show will be "Minerals of Russia".
May I also put in a plug, for the fine series of magazine issues published (in English) by Michael Leybov and Ludmila Cheshko (member of this Forum) as Mineralogical Almanac/Mineral Observer; their website, https://www.minbook.com/

I have read some theads in this forum and understood that they is really interested but I have not some much knowledge about minerals. So I decided that now, when I'm not so competent in the minerals I kan start the communication in off-topic. And I want to ask you about your perferences and tastes. May i do it or not? Is it interesting to answer the questions about your favorite books or films? Or you have this topics on this orum but i could not find it? |

Sorry Asnia, but this is a Forum of Minerals and Mineralogy. Of course we have the Mineralogical Literature section -> https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewforum.php?f=21 where we talk about books and magazines but always related with mineralogy.
Maybe you can just stay, watching what people say and if some time some topic is related with your interests, then participate.

But why don't you have such topics in "off-topic" forum? Do you have another forum or place for general discussion? Or do you not interesting in general informaton about your interlocutors?
I saw many special forum with off-topis forum where people discuss films they watched and many other objects.
Yes, i have read many topics but my knowledge in mineralogy not good enought for a caan take part in this discussion)) And of course, my English isn't so good :) |
