My friend just returned from a trip to Madagascar - he is not a professional in the minerals ... There sellers sold him few specimens of chrysoberyl (of course it's apatite, not a chrysoberyl specimen !), but from which locality ? I read earlier that the apatite was found near the Ankarafa village...

I never saw an Fluorapatite like this from Madagascar, but I agree with you that is some similitude (just some) with the Fluorapatites from Ankarafa.

Hi,
As far as I know it could be from Ikalamavony, Fianarantsoa Province, Madagascar. I am quite sure because I have read something about a new find there. I post a photo.
Regards.

You are welcome, Oleg. But I suggest you waiting another minsurfer's confirmation. It looks like odd to me that Jordi Fabre does not know that supposed new find from Madagascar, so I could be wrong. The two apatites are very similar, so they obviously must come from the same locality but further information about it should be necessary.
Regards,
Antonio

I agree, they look extremely similar, so I believe they could be from the same place.
BTW, the photo of the Fluorapatite published by Antonio Alcaide is from Tomasz Praszkier. As he is a member of this Forum I suppose he won't complain about it, but is fair to give him credit...
