PostPosted: Sep 23, 2010 05:49    Post subject: Hi everyone

Hi, my name is Kat, I have just joined. I have been interested in minerals as long as I can remember, but past 6 years me and my husband have acquired a collection of over 200 specimen, some in their natural form, but majority shaped into spheres.

I am adding an overview of my collection, that picture is about 50% of it, rest is placed all over my house.

Not trying to rub anyone the wrong way, but initially my interest in minerals was purely metaphysical, I am a reiki healer and use a lot of my spheres for healing, however as my collection grows I am becoming more fascinated with the mineralogical compounds, as I have been observing that balance of parts can dramatically change the property of the crystal (such as quarts with pyrite combination is both different to quartz and to pyrite on their own.)

So, just to wrap up the long introduction, I have come here to learn humbly and share whatever knowledge I can offer.

Thank you,
Kat

Hi Kat. How exactly do you use your spheres for healing?

Hi!
Sorry, I am not clear with the content of your question, would you be so kind to clarify if you are asking me how I personally apply crystals for healing or how crystals in general are applicable for healing.
Thank you

Is your personal method of using the crystals for healing different from the general method?

I think in a subject such as metaphysical meaning of crystals individual subjective perception and relationship you have with the stone affects the way that you use it, hence my answer would have to be a yes. :)

Can you explain what kind of individual subjective perception and relationship you have with the stones? Does it depend on the mineral that the stone is made of and do they need to be spheres rather than other shapes (such as a cube or pyramid)?

Well it of course depends on an individual stone, you would have to ask me specifically if you are interested in specific answer, as I do have quite a few in my collection and work with most. And yes, all of the qualities, attributes, values and constitutions are taken to the account to a greater or lesser degree. Sphere being a shape of choice for me, chosen from aesthetic and subjective perspective. however, as I have mention in OP, I am now brunching out into working with natural shapes of stones :)

Kat,thanks for letting us see your display, makes me think it might be an interesting thread, although a bit intrusive, to see how we all live with our collections, ie. our cases, our displays and maybe a look in our drawers.

For me, the short answer is "in a very cluttered house"...would be too embarrassed to share any photos!

Thanks for your pics Kat.

hmm that reply made me think that perhaps I was too enthusiastic at posting my pics? Hmm, different forums, different attitudes, all takes getting use to...
Thanks for the welcome anyway! :)

I think you are reading their responses incorrectly. Your photos are marvelous and they are just saying their homes are cluttered and they would be embarrassed to share photos.
We are all collectors, we naturally have STUFF!
