Great photos - and generally a great idea to make a virtual mineralogical "journey" through the USA, a country whose minerals i really like. Can't wait to see how this project develops when we continue with the different states.

Here's an interesting quartz from northern California, collected from the Snow Quartz Claim, directly beneath the power line which passes through the claimblock. Most of the quartz crystals from this locality display prominent trigons. I don't know why. Anyone?

7cm X 4 cm, collected in the fall of 1978. . The label is self-explanatory. What makes this crystal so unique is the trigon on the main face of the crystal. the trigon is 20mm X 15 mm, as demonstrated in the following photograph.
