Dallas was a nightmare of ice and freezing temps as we made our way to the airport today. Jim and I managed to get there early and settled in as the plane arrived. We had originally planned to drive, but after our son mentioned that the first 125 miles of road was pure ice, well...we figured we would make our way to Tucson without all the stress and hassle.

Got to Tucson and picked up our SUV rental. Made our way to the Westward Look and unpacked, tidied up and called our son to join us for dinner in the Gold room.
While waiting for him to join us, well...we were amazed at the fountain in front of our room...

Thank you Arturo! It is the first day of the Westward Look show and we will roam from room to room looking at wonderful minerals and greeting many friends! Truly so much of the experience of Tucson is the people.
I will try out my new camera, Nikon D90, and see how well I can master the new lenses as well.
Cheers!

Colder in Tucson than most of Europe!!! Here is a heat wave, spring in the air and birds are singing! Deep snow is gone. Have fun for us too!!!

I have taken a great deal of wonderful shots and can't wait to load photos tonight. Day one of the Westward Look show is proving to be busy, and profitable, as many dealers have mentioned. Most rooms are crowded and lots of excitement is shared over stories of newly added pieces to everyones collections!

478 photos taken today! We started with breakfast with Dave Wilber, Dave Waisman, and other friends. We then went to the show, managed to visit with lots of folks and buy quite a few nice minerals too. After all that we went to the University of Arizona's museum to see Dudley Blauwet's talk on Pakistan and look at minerals on display from Dudley, Gene Meirien, and Herb and Moni Obodda.
Went to dinner with Gene, Evan Jones, Ralph Botrill, Jolyon Ralph, Mark Meiterman and Rob Woodside. Jim too!
Let's see how far I can get this evening....
