Here's the first couple of paintings that I have done this year. Both are watercolours on black paper.

I already said it in Facebook but I want to repeat it here: That is a superb calcite and I am not talking about the original piece this time, you have the light, the volumes, the imperfections and the perfect whole. Great!
Thank you for sharing

Very nice work! I found that black backgrounds give the best visual effect.

Hi Steve (or "Crocoite"? What do you prefer?)!
I have a question for you: How much time do you take to paint so beautiful pictures? I wouldn't succeed in painting one of it for ten years!
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.

Hi Riccardo. Steve is fine :0)
The answer is "it depends". It can take me as little as 3 hours or may take more than twice that.
The main variables are:
- complexity of the subject
- how much the black paper sucks up the pigment (most blues are worse than reds for example
- knowing when to stop!
Regards
Steve

Does your work hang anywhere or is it just a private collection? I could easily see this stuff in art shows and for sale in art shops you are an amazing artist.

Thanks Daniel
I do get asked to do commissions from time to time and have been holding discussions with two outlets. But mostly I just enjoy what I do.
