I have also been eating trout lately, once a week, from the supermarket, grilled. Very tasty but not as good as the real thing ;-)
Best Regards, Mike |
Thank you for the regards Mike. You live in a country well known for it's troutfishing. Have you not considered purchasing flyfishing gear and catching your own supper? Best regards.

Hello Pierre; actually I used to go fishing, my uncle bought me some fishing tackle when I was 10 years old! He used to take me fishing for a few years, though it was only spinning for trout in his local river. I never progressed beyond this level. Other interests took over - climbing, caving, mineral collecting etc.
That's a nice brace of fish you've got there, by the way. Bet you couldn't eat a whole one! Actually I take that back: I bet you could.
Regards, Mike

Hi Mike. One of that trout would feed 4 people (not the hungry type). If you ever visit SA, I can take you to places where there are exciting caves wich must house fantastic quartz crystals. I am no good with climbing, so I can only dream about their contents:-)

Hi James. Thank you for the New year wish. May you and your family also have a wonderful year. What a beautiful small town! Thank you for the lovely photo. Our town is extremely pretty with a river running through it and plenty of trees, mostly oak. I should wait till winter and post a few pics. Best regards.

It has been a while since I added to my thread due to a lack of outings and too much to do. With a change in weather, we are slowly getting out more and on one such an outing, a few weeks ago, I discovered one of the better pockets I have found yet in our direct area. I suppose I must give some credit to my wife, as this new pocket was only about 30 cm above an old pocket she discovered last year. A solid quartz reef separated the two. I removed about 3 bread bags of crystals and yesterday Riana cleaned out the remaining crystals from this delightful treasure chest. Fortunately I photographed this occasion, so may you enjoy this outing with us.

Some photos of our dig yesterday. While Riana was cleaning out the pocket, I walked around and found another fairly large pocket. While removing some of it's contents, I was bitten by a number of ants which had a nest right next to the pocket.

Here are a few semi clean to clean specimens from this pocket. A lot of these have fascinating small green ball-like inclusions (probably chlorite).

Hi Joan Martinez. Thank you for your comment. I am glad you enjoyed the photos and comments. I also love to read and view articles about mineral discoveries.

Sorry Chris, I missed your comment on the previous page. Thank you. We are the only people (and a few of our friends that occasionaly join us) that dig here. Loose crystals are fairly easy to find (mostly broken) but the pockets are not that easy. It mostly requires hours of searching and spot digging, but hard work is often rewarded.

If finding pockets was easy, it wouldn't be nearly as thrilling!

Hi Chris. That may be true, but I am more than willing to give it a try (easy pockets):-)

Hi Pierre,
nice to see you've been out digging again. What lovely quartz crystals they are!
Looks like you have been much more successful than I have recently - I went to Skye again a couple of weeks ago and came back with only ONE mediocre specimen!
Regards to yourself and Riana,
Mike
