Hello to Laura.

Best wishes,

Don

Thank you, Don. The Huanggang Mine Complex is simply amazing in the new things it has produced. I can't wait to see what's next from that location.

PostPosted: Nov 14, 2014 13:27    Post subject: Re: Collection of Michael Shaw

Since my last login, the pieces I have enjoyed are the baryte from Book Cliffs, Colorado, USA (2205 Baryte.jpg, pg. 27), the scolecite from Momin Akhada, Maharashtra, India (2191 scolecite.JPG, pg. 27), and especially the magnetite from Dashkesan, Azerbaijan (1000 Magnetite.jpg, pg. 28).

Out of curiosity, are those Pint’s Quarry (2218 Fluorite.jpg, pg. 27) specimens fluorescent? I would assume they would since they resemble White Rock Quarry, Clay Center, Ohio fluorites.

Hi Jamison,
Thanks for your comment. Yes, the Pint's Quarry fluorite fluoresces yellow. There is also a distinct zonal effect, with the outer zone of the crystals showing a much more intense fluorescence.

Hi Michael. The prehnite looks to be from Brandberg, Namibia, or to be more concise, Goboboseb (Tafelkop).

Pierre,
Of course it is. Thanks for catching this. I must be more careful when using the drop down menu so that the locality of the previous image does not carry forward to the next image.
