You even managed to get a specimen of creedite that looks aesthetic - now that's really amazing ;-)

Hello Tobi
If truth be known, I did not. I must give credit to the late Miguel Romero who selected it. All I did is purchase his collection when his heirs sold it...

PostPosted: Oct 11, 2015 09:27    Post subject: Re: The MIM Museum in Beirut, Lebanon

During the years I have visited over 100 public museums of mineralogy.
As you all can see it is a fabulous collection, well worth the trip to Beirut!
I think I may go a second time to re review all marvels and take in some more recent acquisitions.
Best regards
Peter

I think those "rocks" are 250 incredible mineral specimens and it would certainly be a pleasure to visit again.

918 Pyrargyrite is probably my favorite pyrargyrite from anywhere. The creedite is really something to behold as are the rest of the Mexican suite from Miguel Romero's collection. The boleite suite is really quite something as well.

OK, now I'm motivated to comment on this particular thread. Based on the photos that Salim has kindly shared here, on the MIM Facebook page, and for the two MR articles about the Museum, adjectives like "incredible, amazing and spectacular" are inadequate to describe what Salim has done and is doing.

This is simply the most important reference and aesthetic collection extant, and it is noble work. Congrats and please do keep the photos/descriptions coming. They serve as an invaluable and inspirational repository unlike anything else!

Jim, thank you for your very kind words. I hope that you can make it one day to Lebanon to visit the museum - and the country (you'll see, it is less wild than what media generally depict!)

Salim,

It would be a wonderful honor to come see the collection in person. Also, I'm sure Bryan Swoboda of Blue Cap Productions would appreciate the chance to speak with you about a new film series idea that would be perfect to include MIM.

Thanks!
