I've seen in a lot of books, Serpentine and in others I keep finding Serpentinite but not in the same book, I was just wondering if they were the same thing or are they different things?

In the simplest sense, Serpentine is a mineral, Serpentinite is a rock composed of one or more Serpentine minerals.

Serpentine is the name for a group of hydrous magnesium silicate minerals, including antigorite, lizardite and chrysotile. Serpentinite is a petrological name for a rock made up primarily of serpentine minerals. The words are often used interchangeably when referring to the rock, however.
