It is logical that the Museum of Natural History of Paris recalls its illustrious ancestors, like R. J. Haüy and Alfred Lacroix.
Here is the Abbe René Just Haüy (1743-1822), the Father of Mineralogy with some specimens of his collection.

Alfred Lacroix was a very great mineralogist and crystallograph (1863-1948). His book "Minéralogie de la France" is a reference, combining the various crystallographic notations.
But he was also the first great French vulcanologist. He went to the island of Martinique when the volcano "La Montagne Pelée" exploded (May 1902). He is the father of French vulcanology.
The Museum of Natural History of Paris exhibited several crystalline species associated with volcanism or the geology of the deep mantle.

Marco Tironi operates the Las Deliciosas Mine, La Bolsa, Artigas, Uruguay, known for its beautiful amethysts associated with large calcite crystals. We are surprised to see these very aesthetic associations.

A fine cross-section of a manganese nodule is not often seen.
Polymetallic nodules, also called manganese nodules, are rock concretions on the sea bottom formed of concentric layers of iron and manganese hydroxides and other rare minerals.

Hi! Beautiful specimens and I may be a tad too late. But I just wanted to clarify the slight error in locality. The sulfur specimens were indeed from Kawah Ijen (Crater of Ijen), on Gunong Ijen (Mount Ijen), from Java, Indonesia and not Malaysia. Malaysia is a different country and as far as I know, does not have any local mountains or any active volcanism with sulfur mining carried on. Kawah Ijen's exact coordinates are as such: 8.058°S 114.242°E. For some layman reference, it is slightly west of Bali, Indonesia, and south east of the city Surabaya in Indonesia.
Just wanted to shed some light on this side of the world as I live in Singapore, an island sandwiched between these two countries: Indonesia and Malaysia. I have also been to Kawah Ijen myself. Though I have not seen such spectacular specimens as those, I have personally seen the sulfur mining being carried out in the crater beside the acid sulfur lake and the famous sulfur blue fires some years ago (2012).
