I havenot seen it in person yet. But I know phenakites have been found in Xuebaoding, Sichuan, China. Even Google couldnot supply any pictures. Anyone could show some pics what the crystals look like from this locality?

I saw one time one Phenakite from Xuebaoding and it was really small and quite ugly. Unfortunately I haven't images of it. Its appearance was quite similar to the Takowaja ones ( https://www.mindat.org/photo-143170.html )

Hopefully it helps

Jordi

Hola Jordi,
Moltes gràcies for your information. At least I know what to look for now. Maybe I should visit the mine myself one day and find the treasure of my life:P Adéu.

Here is a photo of the phenakite from China. The photo is courtesy of tron-xx.de/jetminerals.com and the specimen resides in the collection of the photographer. The crystal is about 3 cm and in not twinned. The only locality given is Guandong Province.

Hi John,
Thank you very much for this input!
I am quite surprised by the beauty of the crystal and its origin. Therefore a question has risen about the black stuff in the matrix. Is it specularite?
Cheers, Gar.

The Hematite don't match to Xuebaoding. It looks like Jinlong, Shangping, Heyuan, Guangdong, but as far as I know Phenakite isn't noticed there. Maybe Jürgen Tron could help us?

Jordi

Yes, like Jordi Fabre says, the phenakite with hematite is from Jinlong Mine.
