Azurite, though not one my favourites, is for sure one of the classic minerals that many collectors love. I think it should not miss here in these favourite listing. And though this mineral is not one of my collecting focuses, there are some azurites / azurite localities that I really like. I'd like to see what your favourites are, mine are:
- Arizona (Bisbee, Morenci and others)
- Altenmittlau, Hesse, Germany
- Tsumeb, Namibia

For sure Tsumeb, Milpillas, and Bisbee have to be at the top of the list as far as the number of superb specimens they have produced. However there are so many other localities that are worthy of mention such as Touissit, Shilu, Malbunka, etc.

YES - my favorite mineral. I'm color-blind in the red/green wave lengths but can see blues well so.... I guess it's no surprise.
Like Pete said - Milpillas rules for azurites - my other favorites are Bisbee, Tsumeb and Touissit in that order. Tsumeb and Touissit are lagging since the azurites from there tend to be black rather than blue - and Milpillas and Bisbee tend to be so much more "electric".
Without repeating photos from these localities, I'll post two of the more memorable azurites that I've seen over the years.

Here are a couple of my favorites, starting with this one from the Jewel Pocket, Milpillas. This was a fairly small pocket which produced some very nice Azurites with inky midnight blue crystals on a bed of electric blue xls

One of my favorite azurites in my collection is this Bisbee piece from the 400 foot level of the Copper Queen mine. It's provenance is from the James Douglas collection (first president of Phelps Dodge Corporation and owner of the Copper Queen mine) and the National Museum of Natural History.
