This material is sold as prasiolite and I completely understand that's it's absolutely not prasiolite. I'm also aware that some amethyst when heated turns a subtle shade of green and is then sold as green amethyst (a ridiculous name I know!) or prasiolite.

My question is this, if these stones are chevron amethyst which they very clearly are, is it just heat that has turned them green? From what I have read it seems amethyst from only a small number of deposits turns green when heated so I'm surprised that chevron amethyst also turns green.

Hi to everybody!
Ok, the biggest majority of prasiolites in trade are heated or treated amethysts, as well as the biggest majority of citrines. Nevertheless, some prasiolites like the Polish (Silesian) ones, are absolutely natural.
