Hi everyone!
I'm Joćo, a physics student from Portugal and I re-started collecting minerals some weeks ago after deciding to clean the dust off my old collection.
I'm thrilled to be part of this forum because I know it will have a great impact on my knowledge of minerals.
Kind regards,
Joćo Luz |

Welcome. I hope you enjoy your time. May I suggest collecting a few minerals from Panasquiera. The mine produces some very fine Ferberite, Arsenopyrite and Fluorapatie specimens.
All the best

Greetings from Dallas! My name is Tama Higuchi. I am a graphic designer, painter (specifically watercolors for mineral paintings) and thumbnail collector. I particularly enjoy collecting specimens from the Kalahari Manganese field, and some American classics.
I am also one of the administrators of Young Mineral Collectors
https://www.youngmineralcollectors.org
(link normalized by FMF)
a mineral group that is dedicated to fostering a community for young 'rockhounds,' and creating stunning displays at shows to show the world of mineral collecting that their future is in good hands.
I've been involved in the mineral collecting community since 2019, but I am just now getting around to making an account here. Great to meet you all, and I look forward to further discussion! |

A warm welcome to the forum Tama. I hope you plan to share photos of some of your thumbnail specimens and your wonderful art.

Hello everyone! :)
My name is Tobi and I'm a 28 years old 3D artist from Germany, with a lifelong passion for rocks and minerals. What interests me most is anything crystalline, particularly transparent/translucent and metallic crystals, but I am also a big fan of fossils.
I am travelling frequently in between Germany and Oregon, USA, for personal reasons and got the opportunity to collect a wide variety of big and small chunks of petrified wood, agates, geodes and other interesting minerals over there, while I'm mostly focusing on quartz/amethyst and fluorite here in Germany (although I'm always looking for more minerals to collect). Since my childhood I've had the dream to collect at least one specimen of each of the typical precious gemstones (so, sapphire/ruby, emerald, topaz, opal in gem quality etc.) in gem quality myself at some point, not to sell them but just as an achievement.
Recently I tried to get a little bit more into geology to be able to recognize what locality might host what type of mineral and how to find it but I have to admit I am still at the very, very beginning in that regard.
Cheers,
Tobi/Leofwin |
