I really love Malachite. One of the very first minerals I acquired. You take some very nice photos too.

Hi Silvia.
Thank you for your post. Always nice to see you here.
Your malachites are really top notch.
I hope your kids were careful if they took your specimens to school.
My son also carried one large vanadinite and he brought three small vanadinites…
But if one of those kids fell in love with the minerals it was worth it.
Regards.

Rhodochrosite, Quartz and Sphalerite from Austria Duvas Mine, Morococha, Yauli Province, Junín Department, Perú.
Really difficult for me to get the real Pink color. I´ve taken five or six photoshoots and I´m not happy with the result but this is one of the best attempts.
Mineral: | Rhodochrosite, Quartz and Sphalerite |
Locality: | Austria Duvas Mine, Morococha District, Yauli Province, Junín Department, Peru | |
|
Dimensions: | 78 mm x 62 mm x 55 mm |
Description: |
Botryoidal growths of Rhodochrosite crystals, with luster and a more intense and vivid pink color than usual in pieces from this deposit. Small water-clear and lustrous crystals of Quartz are also present with aggregates of Sphalerite microcrystals. Many flashes are visible due to small Quartz tips. Mined in 07/2021. |

Dimensions: | Analysis |
Description: |
Some similar specimens, with paler tones and from the same mine and period, were identified as manganese-bearing calcites, so, both species coexist at the same mine. The dealer, someone familiar for us, has sent me a copy of the analysis of this type of specimen due to its genetic complexity. |
